Happy 2023!
Why do I feel like I'm still stumbling through the vestiges of 2021? How is it 2023?
Do you have New Year's resolutions? If so, go get 'em, tiger. I'm rooting for you!
I stopped decades ago, because I have met me. Two or three weeks of full-throttle, earnest endeavor at the resolution at hand, then a whimpering stumble into backsliding, usually accompanied by unseemly amounts of cheese to deaden the searing shame of failure. Every. Time.
So. I don't do it anymore. Instead I shoot for a manageable level of minor victories. Woo, Snack-less Saturday! One of these days that'll be a thing!
Yeah, maybe not this Saturday...
And incremental progress counts, too. My clothes-to-donate pile is getting more manageable even as my laundry pile grows, evolves and starts to form simple sentences.
So what if my walking app has me clocked in at 37 steps a day? For heaven's sake, I don't have my phone on me at all times! But the walking app doesn't know that. The walking app thinks I've turned into a giant mushroom person who has now melded to my couch, and is sending emergency personnel with crowbars and a crane.
Lol, classic mix-up!
So this is the time of the year when I start seriously thinking about this year's trip to Greece (stay tuned!), which in turn got me thinking about some of Greece's, er...peculiarities, and how they might surprise a first-time traveler. I thought it might be helpful to set some down in writing.
Please take a look at 10 Surprising Things About Greece.
So yeah, I'm gonna be the same me this year, pretty much, but at least Greece can be surprising!
As ever, please do all the social media things with the Likes and the Follows and the Comments and such. It really helps! As ever, thanks for being here! You are the crumbly walnut topping on my melomakarona, and I appreciate you!
Filakia,
Barbara
