Summer Songs and the July Round-Up

Hello and Γειά σας!

Welcome to the first of what will be monthly post round-ups, in case you missed anything, plus a new post for Song Crushes!

Here's what we've published so far:

In Travel, we have articles on the adorable Athens neighborhood of Anafiotika, the island of Naxos (and why you should go there), and a dreamy photo gallery of the island of Samos

In Eat and Drink, we have a breakfast recipe for Kagianas with Pancetta - a whole new way to eat bacon and eggs.

In Culture, we have posts about the ubiquitous Evil Eye and the concept of Philotimo.

In Books and Music - a category I'm already feeling is going to be a fairly busy one - we have a profile of rembetiko singer and distant relative of mine, Kostas Roukounas, a book review of the wonderful myth of  "Circe" by Madeline Miller, and the first of what I hope will be monthly Song Crushes. We'll see how that goes, but that's what I'm shooting for.

Today I'm adding a new Song Crushes post about Summer Songs for your summer listening pleasure! Pour yourself a cold lemonade (or Mythos!) and enjoy!

In Genealogy, we got our geek on with two articles about getting started in Greek genealogy, as well as post about DNA testing.

In Musings, I traumatized you all with a photo of me in my teens, standing with a donkey. You're welcome!

That's quite a lot for our first outing!

If you like what you see around here, please share it with anyone you think might also like it! Check out The Greekish Life on Pinterest, too!

Many thanks to the folks who have already spread the word on Facebook and Pinterest, or emailed the link to friends and family! Mmmmm-WAH! You are the cinnamon on my rizogalo, and I appreciate you so much!
