Gettin' International Up In Here, plus the August Post Round-Up

Barbara

What a summer it's been! How is it not still June? That's where I still am in my head, but consensus reality apparently says No.

Stupid consensus reality.

Still, this summer has been nothing if not productive. THIS little brain-baby was birthed into the world, for one. I hope it's not ugly. I think it's kind of cute, but then I'm it's mom, and I would think that.

There are two new articles up today, if you're wondering what this post's headline is all about.

There's a recipe for Greek Nachos. ¡Sí! It's true! This is so nice and easy, and so very yummy either as a light meal or a party snack.

There's also a new Song Crushes featuring Greek Reggae! Ya man! Go check it out!

Our round-up this month includes the following posts which are certain to make you even smarter, even cooler and possibly better-looking (depending of how much of the liqueur you drink).

In Travel, we have a short video and photo gallery for beautiful Arcadia in the Peloponnesos. We also have a list of 10 fun off-the-beaten-path ideas of places to see and things to do in Athens! Even if you're a veteran Greek traveler (or maybe even if you live in Athens!), I'll bet you probably haven't done all of them!

In Eat & Drink, there's a new recipe for making your own plum or cherry liqueur. Don't panic - it's almost laughably easy, and if you can wait the 2-3 months it takes to do it's magic, you'll have a delicious cordial you can be proudly serve to guests (or keep all to yourself - I won't judge you).

In Books and Music we have a profile of the Queen of Rebetiko, Roza Eskenazi . This is a woman who lived life on her own terms, and sang with the heart and vulnerability of a torch singer.

In Culture we have a beautiful, meaningful quote from Greek Nobel Literature Prize-winner Oddyseas Elytis.

So in total this month we've had seven articles, including the two new ones posting today.
